Mario and Maria Lara moved their family from Western Nebraska to start Life Bridge Church of Christ in Des Moines, Iowa in July 2005. Iglesia de Cristo Puente de Vida is focused on reaching first generation Hispanic people who speak Spanish as their primary language. Family camps in the summer have been a successful strategy in reaching this group. Mario is leading Life Bridge in pursuit of a building somewhere in the Des Moines area in order to provide more services to the community as a vehicle for evangelism. He is also passionate about working with CEM in helping start a new Hispanic church either in Davenport or Omaha which are both heavily populated by Spanish speaking people.
